I was soaking myself in the twitter-verse when a twit from an organization for OFW caught my attention and it goes like this.
“Listen to this. NO OFW SHOULD BE TREATED THIS WAY! Verbal abuse from RP Labor Attache to HK Romulo Salud” – KAKKAMPI
At first I thought it was just one of the usual cases of abuses against Filipino Overseas Workers until I read the final part of the sentence. It has a link going to a Youtube video and so I watched it, My God! I was so struck with the video (How I wish I was star-struck like I do when I am watching Charice’s videos) according to the video (actually it’s more of an audio recording) which the up-loader captioned. In the recording you can hear two distinct voices, a woman with soft low voice explaining herself to this authoritative guy who is shouting and saying things in such a sarcastic way as "Anong karapatan? Wag mong gagamitin sa akin ang karapatan. Ako, me karapatan din ako. Wag mong gagamitin ang salitang karapatan ha?” (“What rights? Don’t you ever use that word on me, I have rights too, don’t use the word “rights’ ha?!!!!.
Allegedly the guy who’s acting in an un-educated and non-diplomatic way (“Kanto Boy” Style) is RP Labor Attache to HK Romulo Salud which is supposedly the one who’s in charge of the welfare of the Filipinos in Hong Kong. He is considered as a Diplomat, a Civil Servant, and an Ambassador. What an irony indeed, I can’t even think of any reason why he acted the way he did (“Baka Natalo sa tong-its”). He should review the Civil Service manual 100 times over.
Good thinking on the part of Agnes Tenorio that she was able to record (“I was just thinking maybe she was intentionally wired by concern people FBI style”) such inhumane sarcasm because if there is no evidence, she doesn’t stand a chance. It would be her words against the words of an educated and respected man. I guess I should put “used to be respected”. But believe me when I say, this is not an isolated case.
May I just remind all the Civil Servants particularly those that are serving in different Philippine embassies around the World to put in their minds that they were sent by the government to serve those that are in need as it is also the main part of their oath as Civil Servants, let me emphasize the word “SERVANTS.” I wonder how many times I did mention the word “serve” in variations.
Please watch the video so you can relate more with what I just blurted out.
