Disclaimer: This was written before the revolt.

The demand for OFW skilled workers is greatly increasing as Filipinos' work ethics and caliber is being recognized around the world. More countries are opening their doors for us, Libya is among those countries and according to an article I read on OFW Guide (which is one of the leading website in providing information for OFWs.) Libya boasts of good working conditions for expatriates, some of these are enumerated below.

1) Arab country pero mas maluwang ang pamamalakad. (This is an Arab country but rules are very lenient Pwedeng mag-usap ang babae at lalake. (Opposite sex can talk in public)

(100% remittance in the Philippines but you can avail of cash advance.)

Can play music in a maximum volume and stores do not close when they need to pray.)

4) Hindi naka-abaya ang mga babae. (Women are not required to wear abaya)

(Salary is good and once a year vacation)

6) May available na Catholic Church (There is a Catholic church) see picture above : Tripoli Catholic Church

More than the salary, it is the country's policies and culture that need to be consider in choosing where you want to work."Culture Shock" sometimes is so tremendous that some may find it unbearable and will succumb to homesickness and would opt to go back home even if they haven't recover from the expenses they've incurred in applying for jobs abroad.

But then again no matter how good the working conditions are, it still depends on the person's ability to adapt and his/her resiliency which is one of the best attributes of Filipinos, amidst uncertainties, amidst hard times and struggles we always find ways to laugh about any ordeals or trials that come our way.

So Pinoys, better find the best agency that can take you to Libya and catch that "elusive" financial freedom we all have been aspiring for. You can check POEA for the list of accredited or registered recruitment agencies just click here Status of Recruitment Agencies as of Nov 5, 2010 9:15:51 AM. The POEA database changes from time to time so better check also as often as possible to avoid being a victim of illegal recruitment.
